LEGAL COUNSEL - COMMERCIAL & TECHNOLOGY

Role description

The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing general advice and support on a wide range of legal issues to INUI businesses worldwide and managing legal risk in all the geographies where the company operates in relation to Commercial and technology activities. The candidate is expected to be solution-oriented and provide practical advice to manage risk and support growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to stakeholders, management, and business units on various legal matters to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Identifying potential legal risks and liabilities faced by the company and developing strategies in consultation with the team lead to minimize those risks.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and regularly update legal agreements, including customer contracts and T&Cs, SaaS agreements, service agreements, partnership and JV agreements, shareholder agreements, referral agreements, NDAs, MoUs, marketing and vendor agreements, and compliance documents with international best practices and applicable legal requirements.
  • Oversee the protection of the company’s intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Assists the business in launching new products and conducts legal and regulatory due diligence on such products, including identifying risks and mitigants in all applicable geographies.
  • Provides updates to the company on new legislation and regulatory developments that may impact the company’s business and advise on how to comply with such new legislation and regulations in a timely manner.
  • Advising on the legal and privacy use of specific technologies, such as e-identity, biometrics, encryption, RPA, and AI.
  • Provide business colleagues with practical advice and guidance and develop solutions to issues while managing business and legal considerations.
  • Handle legal matters related to employment contracts and other labor-related issues.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in SaaS & tech companies.
  • Background in consumer-facing tech and/or digital media.
  • Experience with commercial contracts (vendors, partnerships, technology, licensing) is required.
  • Experience with data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR) is required.
  • A basic understanding of laws relating to privacy, payments, electronic communications, marketing and promotions, and online safety.
  • A passion for and understanding of platform technology and how it intersects with law and policy.
  • Ability to work as a team player who can effectively work with, manage, and coordinate colleagues, internal stakeholders, and the business.
  • Fluency with business issues and the ability to formulate legal solutions based on the business priorities of our clients and INUI.
